TOP FIVE THINGS TO DO IN NASSAU COUNTY, NEW YORK

1-SAGAMORE HILL: Way up in the north east corner of Nassau County is one of the nations most famous houses. The home of the 26th President of the United States, Sagamore Hill. Theodore Roosevelt lived in this house for a good part of his adult life and the home served as the summer White House during his presidency. The home is filled with antiques and memorabilia from his long and eventful life. Take a guided tour of the 23-room mansion and then tour the beautiful grounds that lead down to the Long Island Sound. There’s also a very interesting museum on the property highlighting President Roosevelt’s life

2- JONES BEACH
: If it was summer year round then Jones Beach would be a slam dunk number one. Sadly there’s only three fleeting months of summer weather to enjoy this  beautiful beach. The  the 6.5-mile-long Jones Beach, with white sand and big ocean waves, is the premier summer spot of Long Island. There is basketball, corn hole, playgrounds, volleyball, miniature golf and much more including a huge pool. You can bike, jog, and walk on the boardwalk. There’s several nice places to eat  as well as an adventure park to get your blood going, of course the main thing I enjoy is just relaxing on the beach. Also, if you like read up on the creation of Jones Beach it’s pretty fascinating and will give you an appreciation of the architecture and long history of Jones Beach
